On 11th of July 2015, the students of the Songshan Shaolin Traditional Wushu Academy together with Shifu Konstantinos Mathiopoulos and Shifu Grigorios Stamatopoulos went to take part in the First International Competition organised by the Changyuan Chinese Wushu Association. At the competition took part 9 students of which we won 2 gold medals, 2 silver, 3 bronze and we got a fourth place.
The gold medals were won by: James Russell (Scotland) for Ba Ji Quan and Kosta Papadimitriou (Greece) for Drunken Fist (Zhui Quan). The silver medals were won by: Nathan Moore (USA) for Tong Bei Quan and Giorgos Stefa (Greece) for Hu Quan (Tiger Fist).
The bronze medals were won by: Alexandre Sac-Epee (France) for 18 Chen Taijiquan, Dimitri Mathiopoulos (Greece) for Monkey Fist (Hou Quan) and Rene Schwartz (Germany) for Wing Chun for 12 Steps San Shi 1 Duan. The fourth place was won by Joseph Thompson with Taiji Stick. What is remarkable for our students’ performance is that they competed with the Chinese students.
At the competition our students did a show for Wu Bu Quan (the group was a mix of new and old students), Mei Hua Quan (Wu Shi: Jeremy Colineaux and Alexandre Sac-Epee from France) and Shifu Grigorios Stamatopoulos demonstrated 24 Yang Tai Ji Quan.
